Halo is Parasound’s premier line with a reputation for going head-to-head with the most expensive equipment on the market, while costing a fraction of the price. Halo has earned honors and awards that are unmatched. The Parasound Halo JC 2 BP preamplifier represents the pinnacle of analog audio technology. The JC 2 was originally conceived by Parasound’s President, Richard Schram, as a companion for the famed Halo JC 1 mono power amplifier. In the spirit of the JC 1, Parasound commissioned John Curl and CTC builders to design a two channel preamplifier without compromise. It uses the highest quality parts and achieves a superior level of sonic and measured performance than any preamplifier we’ve made since Parasound was founded in 1981. We’re proud to offer this exceptional audio component.
Fully Balanced Circuits from Inputs to Outputs. 2 input pairs can be switched to XLR balanced connectors. Independent balanced/unbalanced select for the L & R channel. Each channel's input is switched by its own gold-on-silver contact relay. Neutrik brand premium XLR connectors.
Premium Alps brand 4-gang motor-driven analog master volume control. Separate TKD brand analog gain controls for L & R channel. Dual-mono left & right channel circuit boards minimize crosstalk.
The solid machined aluminum volume control knob, polished on the front and textured around the perimeter, rotates on ball-bearings giving it rock-solid and silky smooth operation. We use independent high-resolution Japanese TKD gain control potentiometers to trim the volume of each channel for superior crosstalk specifications.
High capacity R-core audio power transformer & inductor. Hyper-fast soft recovery audio bridge rectifiers diodes. Independent power supply for controller, relay coils, triggers, LEDs.
The Home theater bypass on the Halo JC 2 BP preamplifier enables seamless blending into a digital surround system. The bypass functions with both unbalanced & balanced inputs and outputs. It can also be assigned to any input and remains selected after the unit has been turned off. Remote control is included with the bypass assignment keys.
2-way RS232 control for easy integration. If the power amplifier is equipped with a 12 V trigger input you may find it convenient for the JC 2 BP to turn it on and off automatically. The JC 2 BP is compatible with most popular infrared repeater systems for remote control operation from another room or when it is installed in a cabinet where its remote handset signals cannot reach its front panel remote control sensor.
John Curl is one of the finest analog audio designers of all time. In the ‘70s he designed mixing consoles for the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane, then the original Mark Levinson JC 2, Vendetta Research, his own brand, a $75,000 phono stage for Constellation Audio. Since 1989 Curl has guided Parasound in developing amplifiers and preamplifiers with a reputation for superior sonics, high value and longevity.
